Home season opener wrap up

Greetings Sidekicks! Our 2009-2010 season is underway and the team is off to a great start! Our western team is currently second in the region behind Redlands Community College by a very small margin point-wise. We have several of our open riders in good standing to possibly be high point rider for the region. As the high point rider for the region, the rider gets an automatic ride to nationals to compete for the AQHA cup in two phases; reining and horsemanship, where the scores of each class are combined to determine the 2010 AQHA High Point Rider. We already have TWO riders qualified to compete at western regionals: Christa Forsberg in Advanced Western Horsemanship and Karissa Milu in Novice Western Horsemanship. We will have many more qualify for regionals as the year progresses. Western regionals will be held at North Central Texas College in Gainsville on March 7, 2010. Remember that you can always keep up with the latest news by visiting http://www.gobuffsgo.com/. The team and individual results from last month’s show are posted at this time. And for a smile, check out the latest video on the WT home page bragging about our beloved Equestrian team: http://www.wtamu.edu/ In Sidekicks concession news, our first weekend was a little rough with equipment malfunctions but luckily Ayne and the Boswells saved the day and got everything going well. We were incredibly fortunate to have drinks donated in such abundance that we will have plenty for the shows we host November 21st and 22nd. For those dates, we will again need volunteers for time to work the stand as well as baked goods and runners for foods as needed. Please email me if you are able to assist in anyway. Details for the 2010 West Texas Timed Event Championships are forth coming. This is a four way fundraiser that benefits WT Equestrian, WT Stock Horse Team and WT Rodeo. Last year was the inauguration of this event, and we were all thrilled with the out come so we are ready to get this event rolling soon. Thank you all for your support of our team As always, you can email me if you have any questions, concerns, comments, suggestions or the like. Best of luck to our hunter team! Go Buffs!

Welcome

Welcome to the home blog of the West Texas A&M University Sidekicks! We are a self governing booster group, designed to help raise funds to supplement accounts for the WT Women’s Equestrian Team that we all love so dearly. It’s difficult to raise awareness and support for a team that is not well known despite having many, many national championship appearances by both the Hunter and Western teams, as well as individuals in all four disciplines that IHSA offers, (western horsemanship, reining, hunter seat equitation on the flat and hunter seat equitation over fences). Our teams have appeared repeatedly at IHSA National Championships, Varsity Equestrian National Championships and Tournament of Champions. Though WT is a Division II school, we compete against Division I and Division III schools on the most equal playing field in the National Collegiate Athletics Association. Sidekicks allows community, parents and alumni to focus their support for the continuation of this successful program. We dream big and have big future plans not only for fund raising but for those funds that we raise. We appreciate any and all support that you can give the group. Every effort helps, no matter how small you may think your contribution is.
